#043: classical + electronic experiment [part I & II]

Sometimes, when a close friend visits me for a chat, I am asking him for at least five of his favorite tracks – then I connect the controller, add some of my fav. tunes, and record a [private] mixtape – only for us & friends.

The same happened in the evening of February 11, 2022 when Alex Ardelean paid me a visit. We love music in general, but Alex is very fond of the classical style. Ergo, a new experimental idea, which, besides his [rare] visit, made my blood pressure significantly higher.

In the beginning of 2022, the world was just coming back to life from the pandemic, in a pretty dizzy manner. You’ll probably hear this in [part I] – recorded in one take, with no edits — allowing every transition, mistake, surprise and moment of intuition to remain exactly as it happened.

Four years later, in May 2026, I returned to the same concept – this time alone, trying to keep its classical essence. Now I went even further, including other electronic [sub]genres (broken beat, dub, techno, house, pop, downtempo etc), plus more classical music I particularly enjoy, from Chopin to George Enescu, or Mozart.

[part II] is longer, more emotional, and plays a lot with the BPM, sometimes seriously fluctuating during the same track.

It’s a restless selection, connecting different places, memories, and emotions – quite a lot happened since the first recording.

In this second part there is also music from România, das Land, in dem ich geboren wurde, still close to my heart as a beautiful, warm, tough, but unforgettable place. Deutschland is present as well – my adopted home since 2013.
