There are some great electronic music producers out there, but not so many are special like Balfa. The Spanish sound enthusiast is building synthesizers from recycled materials. He manages to explore virgin territories of noise and visual art during a journey through “organic electronics”.
Balfa released his debut LP last year – Perfecta Analogía de la Decadencia – which was extremely well received by the public and critics. I also think it’s great – some tracks (04. Presionero) remind me of the famous Aphex Twin sound stirred with those special je ne sais quoi ingredients from Balfa. You can listen to it on blf-lab.com. Every track has its own story, described by the artist.
Recently, BLF Lab joined forces with the Danish label Fallen Metropolis and released a collection of live soundscapes. The fifteen tracks are coming from Balfa`s IN_FR project of live performances probing the aesthetics and attitude of sound through handmade synthesizers. The new album is available in a limited cassette edition with one of a kind hand made artwork.
Balfa is a Telecommunications engineer specialized in acoustics, which explains his passion for manipulating sound by creating his own peculiar devices.
