China successfully launches mission to Mars

China has succesfuly launched its own Mars mission into space – Tianwen-1, which means “questions to the heaven”. Hundreds of people watched the rocket taking off on Wednesday, from Hainan Island, at the south coast of China. Tianwen-1 will search for water and evidence of ancient life forms.

The rover-lander duo should enter Mars` orbit on February, with a landing site set on Utopia Planitia.

This is the second mission towards Mars. On Monday, the United Arab Emirates launched its own spacecraft from Japan, according to Sky.com. The United States will also launch a Mars mission next week, from Cape Canaveral, Florida.
